Dutch Culture according to...

Interested by those Dutch words of Deelder ?

This will become hard to follow for those that dont master the Dutch language however you might want to know that there is a mad Dutch man that is a poet, writer, Jazz fan and drummer and a great persona in Dutch commercials.

I have always been a fan of his work, already at an early age, his vision is bright and funny, two caracteristics that are worth it to explore !

He also made the colour black and wearing glasses cool again ! THX!

Jules Deeler, which is his name, is part of a group of Dutch artists of various background, some more famous than others but all madly intelligent. The painter and rock & roll junkie Herman Brood, the writer Bart Chabot, the photographer Anton Corbijn, to name but a few.

All creatively stimulated by some produce of the Netherlands and maybe even South America but all with a very specific vision about beauty, the power of music and words!
Unfortunately I dont believe that their works has been translated in English, but the language barrier is of course gone in terms of the music and images of for instance U2 and Depeche Mode or more recently The Killers. Corbijn has also produced an excellent film about the singer of Joy Division, Ian Curtis, which I highly recommend called 'Control'.

So you see that a bit of alternative Dutch culture can be more stimulating than the average coffeeshop !

And last but not least another phrase of Jules Deelder 'Als je de beperkingen kent, kun je daarbinnen onbeperkt te werk gaan'
